Fred & May's Wedding
Frederick Harold Shave married Alice May White at Christchurch, Sandown while on leave on 5th February 1917. (Click picture to enlarge). Note May's home made dress. Both she and her mother, Caroline, were accomplished seamstresses as can be seen in the stitched tribute to George and Fred. (Below left).

Alice May White was Charlie White's eldest child and George's sister.

Fred and George had known each other for a number of years, both being employed as gardeners by Mr Drabble, owner of Los Altos and large amounts of land around Lake and Sandown.
Both sailed for Gallipoli on board Aquitania in early August 1915.
